It’s a fact- kids get asked to a LOT of birthday parties. And usually that means making or buying a card and a gift. Well this is a two-in-one- both a card AND a gift! And kiddos ages 7-13 will really enjoy making this for their friends or family birthdays!
To make the Birthday Puzzle Card, you will need:
printed paper napkins in 2 designs
large craft sticks or tongue depressors
We have this quick 3-minute video to show you how to make it..
But just to recap for those who like written directions:
On a covered work surface, lay out the craft sticks (enough to match the size of your paper napkin design._
Using painter’s tape, tape them together and flip them over, so the tape side is DOWN.
Cut out your design from the paper napkin.
Carefully pull apart, separating the napkin’s layers- usually there are three. You only need the top (printed) layer.
Apply a layer of white glue on the sticks using the paintbrush.
Place the printed napkin face up on the glue, then cover with another layer of white glue.
LET DRY THOROUGHLY.
When dry, carefully remove the painter’s tape.
Bend the sticks where they abut and break them apart.
Jumble the sticks with the design facing up.
Place painter’s tape on top of the design.
Flip project over so the printed side with tape is DOWN.
Repeat steps 3-9 using a second design.
Trim off any paper with scissors.
Sand any dried glue off the edges with an emery board.
Place in an envelope and you are ready to send! A fun tw0-sided puzzle that is a card AND a gift- and handmade from the heart!
