Add a little extra Christmas cheer to your gifts this holiday season by creating these cute fingerprint ornaments!
I’m sure you have your holiday shopping done and everything is wrapped, right? Yeah right! I always plan on having it done early but that has never happened. I would consider myself a smart and thoughtful shopper but most of my list requested gift cards… How boring are those to shop for and to give?
Handmade clay ornaments are the perfect addition to the dull gift card, and can also be personalized to be used as a gift tag!
Not only are these fingerprint ornaments adorable, but a great preschool activity to get you through another afternoon stuck inside! It’s an excellent way to practice clay forming, painting, measuring and cutting. Also, the perfect time to discuss the importance and true meaning of gift giving during the holidays.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Roll clay in to ball.
2. Flatten to 1/4″ thickness.
(Or use cookie cutter to create desired shape)
2. Poke hole using a straw.
3. Use thumbs or fingers to create design. Let clay dry.
5. Cut a 10″ piece of ribbon and thread through hole for hanger.
6. Knot and trim excess.
Because the holidays are typically a hectic time of year for families, it is important to spend some one-on-one time with the kids to create and connect. It also helps to create some handmade holiday love at the same time!
